Gophers Conclude Action at Clemson Invite

Clemson, S.C. - The University of Minnesota women's rowing team concluded action at the Clemson Invite Sunday with the Gophers posting a third-place finish in the First Varsity Four and a pair of fifth-place finishes in the First Varsity Eight and Second Varsity Eight on Lake Hartwell.
The 1V4 of Meredith Kelly, Joyce Jollands, Lauren Gonsalves, Catherine Ahrens and Anna Cruse capped off an impressive weekend by finishing third in the Gophers' final event of the day with a time of 7:26.9, finishing ahead of Harvard, Penn, Oregon State and Oklahoma. Virginia won the event in 7:13.1 and Washington State followed in 6:40.0.
With a time of 6:45.6, the Gophers' No. 20 1V8 finished ahead of Oklahoma and Penn to post a fifth-place finish in their final event of the regatta. No. 4 Virginia, No. 10 Washington State, No. 15 Harvard and No. 18 Oregon State took the top-four spots in the race.
Minnesota's 2V8 also notched a fifth-place finish with a time of 6:53.9. The Gophers finished ahead of Penn and Oklahoma, while Virginia, Washington State, Oregon State and Harvard finished 1-4 for the event.
The Maroon and Gold will have a week off from competition before taking on border-battle rival Wisconsin on the road May 2 in Madison, Wis.
