Gophers Defeated at No. 48 Indiana

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- The Minnesota women's tennis team dropped a 6-1 decision to 48th-ranked Indiana in its final match of the 2015 regular season Sunday in Bloomington, Ind. Minnesota fell to 16-9 with the loss and finish with the same conference record it did in 2014 at 6-5.
The six wins in each season match the highest win total in conference since 2003.
Indiana took the first two doubles matches to finish on the morning, winning 8-1 at No. 1 and 8-5 at No. 3 to take the first point of the match.
The Hoosiers kept up their strong play in singles and went on to win the first three matches that finished.
Paula Gutierrez won at No. 4 to make it 2-0 and Katie Klyczek added another point with a straight-set win at No. 1. Shannon Murdy clinched the match with a 6-4, 6-4 win at No. 3.
Caroline Ryba capped a 14-7 regular season in singles with her fifth triumph at No. 2 singles in Big Ten play. She dispatched Alecia Kauss, 7-5, 6-1, to get the Gophers on the board. Indiana, however, went on to win at singles Nos. 5 and 6 to complete a 6-1 win.
The Gophers continue their season next weekend at the Big Ten Tournament in Evanston, Ill.
