Complete NFCA All-Region Teams

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- A school-record seven Minnesota softball players were named to NFCA Great Lakes All-Region teams, the NFCA announced Thursday. Kaitlyn Richardson, Sam Macken and Sara Groenewegen were first-team selections, Danielle Parlich, Tyler Walker and Hannah Granger were named to the second team and Taylor LeMay was a third-team honoree.

The awards honor softball student-athletes from the Association's 10 regions with first, second and third teams selected for each region. The all-region teams were voted on by NFCA member coaches from each respective region, and all the honorees now become eligible for selection to one of three 2015 NFCA Division I All-American teams.

The Gophers are one of nine teams with seven or more selection.

Richardson and Walker were all-region selections for the third time each, while Groenewegen picked up her second all-region honor.

Minnesota opens its 10th NCAA Tournament appearance Friday night at 6:30 p.m. CT against New Mexico State in Tucson, Ariz.
