Mendez Selected to NCAA Regional

Jose Mendez was selected to play as an individual at the NCAA Regional in Bremerton, Wash. The 54-hole tournament runs May 14-16 at Gold Mountain Golf Club.

The top five teams and individuals from each regional tournament advance to the NCAA Championships. Mendez is the second-seeded of five individuals playing in Bremerton.

Mendez tied for ninth at the NCAA Raleigh Regional last year, which the Gophers made as a team. This year, he comes into NCAA play off a tie for fifth at the Big Ten Championships. Mendez has a team-best 71.50 stroke average, which ranks third in program history for a season.

The NCAA Championships are May 20-June 3 at Concession Golf Club in Bradenton, Fla.
