University of Minnesota men's golfer Jon DuToit was selected as a Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar, as announced by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA).
In order to be eligible for the award, an individual must be at least of junior academic standing, compete in at least three full seasons at the collegiate level, participate in 50 percent of his team's competitive rounds, have a stroke average under 76 and maintain a 3.2 grade-point average.
Recipients must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at their university.
DuToit becomes the third golfer in program history to be recognized as a Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar. Matt Anderson and David Morgan were both tabbed for the award in 2003 and 2004, respectively.
The PING All-Midwest Region selection was one of 12 golfers from the Big Ten to be honored by the GCAA. Among conference competition, DuToit's 73.35 stroke average this past season bested seven of the other Big Ten honorees.
DuToit and his teammates open up the 2014-15 slate with the Gopher Invitational at Windsong Farm GC, Sept. 13-14.
