Strandemo Studies in Chinese Flagship Program

MINNEAPOLIS - Gopher women's cross country and track & field student-athlete Madeline Strandemo discusses her experience in the University of Minnesota's Chinese Flagship program. A Marketing and Chinese major, Strandemo is studying in the College of Liberal Arts while competing for the Maroon & Gold in both cross country and track & field.
Strandemo is entering her redshirt sophomore season with the Gopher cross country and track & field teams this season. As a redshirt freshman in 2014, Strandemo was named an alternate for the Big Ten Championships, NCAA Midwest Regional and NCAA Championships during the cross country season after running a career-best 22:10.1 at Jack's Run. She was also named an Academic All-Big Ten honoree.
On the track in 2015, Strandemo made her Big Ten Championships debut, placing 19th in the mile indoors (5:00.27) and placing 25th in the 1,500m outdoors (4:43.84). She also ran the 3,000m indoors and the 800m and the 3,000m steeplechase outdoors.
