State title and school record holder Elizabeth Click is set to compete for the University of Minnesota's diving program. Click joins the Golden Gophers from Stillwater Area High School and Minnesota Diving Academy. Her favorite event is diving from the three-meter boards.

GopherSports: Why did you choose the University of Minnesota?

Elizabeth Click: I chose the University of Minnesota because it's the best fit for me. I loved the coaching staff and I have been practicing at the University of Minnesota for the past four years. Wenbo Chen and John Dailey, both of the diving coaches, have taught me so many new things throughout the years and I felt that if I continued to dive with them, I would learn even more and would be very successful throughout my college career.

GopherSports: What are you looking forward to the most with starting your collegiate career as a Golden Gopher?

Click: I'm looking forward to all the new experiences that I will be able to do, such as competing with a new team and being in a new environment. I'm ready to try new things and be able to step out of my comfort zone and accomplish things that I couldn't before.

GopherSports: Thus far, what has been your best or most proud diving memory?

Click: My best memory so far would be breaking several school records in my last year in high school diving. One memory that I will never forget is finally accomplishing the one thing that I set out to do when I started diving by winning the state meet. It was a surreal moment because all the time and effort I put in paid off.

GopherSports: What do you like to do for fun outside of the pool?

Click: When I'm not at the pool practicing I like to hangout with my friends and family.

GopherSports: How do you think you will contribute to the Gopher swimming and diving program?

Click: I hope to contribute a lot throughout the years that I am on the team. As I get better and work harder, I hope to make it on the travel team and qualify to big meets such as Big Tens, NCAA Zones and Nationals. I'm excited to be apart of the University of Minnesota swim and dive team and I look forward to all the memories I'll make in these next four years.
