Minnesota was led by Daly Santana, who had nine kills, hit .318 in 22 attempts. Set 1: The Gophers hit .367 in the first set and committed just one error, to take a 1-0 lead. Minnesota opened the match with a 5-0 run, only to have Sam Houston State push back and cut the deficit to 5-4. The Gophers, however, put the lead to 8-4 on a Paige Tapp kill. Minnesota would later increase the lead to 14-9 on a Lohman ace as the Bearkats called a timeout. The Gophers would continue to add the pressure and push the lead to 20-11 on a Bearkat attack error. Leading 24-13, Minnesota finished off the first with Lohman/Hannah Tapp block and a Lohman kill for the 25-15 set win.
Set 2: Santana had six of the team's 13 kills, while Minnesota had five blocks en route to a 25-13 second set win. Tied at 6-6, Minnesota went on a 3-0 run as Santana had back-to-back kills and a block. As Minnesota led 12-9, the Bearkats came back to pull within one at 12-11, but the Gophers went on an 11-0 run to take control of the second set. During that time, Minnesota had two blocks, a combined block from the Tapps, while Hannah Tapp added a solo block. As the Gophers led 17-11, Sam Houston State called a timeout. Minnesota, however, didn’t defer its run, all of which came on Lohman’s serve rotation. After a 23-11 lead, Sam Houston State earned a kill, but the Gophers closed out the set with a Hannah Tapp kill and a Goehner kill for the 25th point.
Set 3: The Gophers closed out the match with a convincing 25-11 win. Minnesota opened the set, 15-2, with a majority of that run contributed during Katie Schau’s serve rotation. With a 6-2 lead, the Gophers went on a 9-0 run. During that span, Minnesota alone had three blocks. Arguably one of the longest volleys for the Gophers this season, they capped off the run with a Goehner kill and held a 15-2 lead. The Gophers would later push the lead to 19-7 off a combined block from Maddie Beal and Kayla Buford. Beal would then finish off the match with a kill, her third off the set, as Sophie Beckley closed out the match and served the final two points.
