During the academic year, the Gophers are focused on two things: school and their sport. But when classes aren't in session, the Gophers are on the go! Catch up with some of the women's gymnastics team as they spend their summer on adventures far away from home or living their dreams in their own backyard.

Minnesota summers are quite possibly the best a person can experience. There is always so much to do and yet so little time. I started my summer out by traveling to San Diego to see my brother and his girlfriend graduate from the University of San Diego. The day after coming home from that amazing trip, I had to have shoulder surgery to repair my torn labrum. As disappointed as I was that if have to be stuck in a sling for four weeks, I was thankful for the opportunity to come back and heal even stronger than I was before. As far as gymnastics and my recovery, I've gone through the slow process of getting back my range of motion, ability to lift weights and am back into going beyond just the basic skills. I never thought that in three short months I could go from a complete labral repair, to doing handstands and even hanging on a bar again. With my fairly speedy recovery, I'm more excited than ever for training my routines and doing full workouts.

On the other hand, my summer was also been packed with socializing, a couple art fairs and I attended the Imagine Dragons concert. If you ask anyone that knows me, they would probably tell you two things about me: 1.) I love art and everything associated with that and 2.) Good music and good coffee keep me at peace. I attended the Edina Art Fair and the Uptown Art Fair this summer and of course, had to purchase one of the hand-crafted mugs for my coffee obsession. To feed this love for coffee, I spent a lot of time with one of my teammates and close friends, Hanna Nordquist, at Caribou Coffee, our favorite place to get a breakfast sandwich and a quick pick-me-up.

As summer came to a close, I officially moved into my first apartment! After so many exciting things this summer, I can only imagine how much fun I'll have this upcoming gymnastics season. Don't be surprised if you catch my in my Minnesota gymnastics apparel with a cup of coffee on my table and a paintbrush in my hand.
