The University of Minnesota men's golf team has named three captains for the 2015-16 season. Senior Jon DuToit and juniors Jose Mendez and Grady Meyer will serve as the triumvirate.
DuToit is the Gophers' lone senior, and has played in 27 career tournaments. He has started at the Big Ten Championships each of the past three years and finished in the top 25 every time. DuToit maintained a career-low stroke average of 73.35 last year.
Mendez has started every tournament of his Minnesota career and posted the team's low scoring average both years. The 2014 Big Ten co-champion tied for fifth in the conference last year and played individually at the NCAA Raleigh Regional. Both Mendez and DuToit were named to the Big Ten Men's Golfers to Watch List yesterday.
Meyer, one of the team's five juniors, has played in 15 career tournaments. He was part of the Gophers' lineup at the 2014 NCAA Regional as a freshman. Meyer and DuToit were both Academic All-Big Ten honorees in 2015.
