Minnesota Head Coach Richard Pitino

Opening Statement...
Tough one obviously, I thought guys battled. I thought it came down to free throws and for whatever reason we just couldn't make them today which is odd and then a couple of loose balls at the end we didn't get. Give them credit, it's a good team. I think if we defend like that and play as hard as we did today we'll win some games. Right now, it's tough, we have to be as close to perfect to beat a team like that and we just were not. Give them credit, they are a dynamic offensive team and I thought we did a really good job on things. We had a couple of really silly turnovers at the end of the game too. We have to find a way to win the game and you go through games like this and learn from it.

On the team's defense and what was different today...
Activity, I though Ahmad Gilbert was really good. It was disappointing, he has a dislocated finger on his left hand. I don't know how long he is going to be out for, he is having surgery but I thought his activity was great. We were digging hard in the post and doing a lot of good things. I did think when he got hurt (and not saying it's the reason we lost) but it really screwed up our flow from a defensive and substitution stand point. I liked our pick and roll defense, we were packing the paint and that one kid Zeisloft hit some tough shots.

On the team's starting lineup the past two games...
It's going to have to change obviously because of the injury but I liked it a lot, I really liked it. I think JR showed playing with great activity and heart is a lot, and another thing that he doesn't do a bad job of is staying in his lane as a player. He doesn't do things that he isn't capable of which is a strength in itself.

On positives from today's game...

I'm going to look back on this game very disappointed and we aren't a big moral victory team by any means but we are going to look back and say okay guys, if we do this we are going to be in the game. There's things you have to do to win games where we're at, and you have to beat good teams with free throws, not turning the ball over and getting loose balls.

Indiana Head Coach Tom Crean

Opening Statement...
"We're really proud of this win because we had to earn it. We knew that we would have to here. I don't get caught up in people's records, as much as you look at what they're capable of. You look at their potential and they have that. Richard [Pitino] is an excellent coach. There's no question about that. We didn't have an great start, but it wasn't because we weren't prepared and it wasn't because we took it for granted. We took too many jump shots, and we have to establish our game for us. We got some turnovers and they got some baskets in transition, which is where they're best. We knew we were playing an aggressive, dangerous team, a team that is young, but they're going to win. I don't have any doubt about that. I just didn't want it to be today."
On Kevin Yogi Ferrell stepping up in the remaining minutes...
"He's played so much basketball. He's one assist away from being tied in the league and being the all time record. He makes great passes. His decision making is good. I'm always saying he's a great defender. He's playing with a lot of confidence, and he's got a lot of confidence in the team, because the team has a lot of confidence in him."
On Joey King...
"He was outstanding and we prepared for that. We had to figure it out a little bit because they did a great job of moving him around. He's good. I mean he's really good because he can keep backing up, he can get fouled and he's tough."

Senior Joey King

On the team's effort...
"We definitely competed and that's something to be proud of. When you got a 0-0 at half time, a clean slate, it all comes down to who comes out and executes in the second half and Indiana came out and did their job. And it's frustrating that we weren't able to take advantage of the solid first half that we had, but I guess it's just time to move on and prepare to band together on the road."
Freshman Jordan Murphy

On what Louisville head coach Rick Pitino told the team before the game...
"He told us to play hard. We have to start playing like men. We have to put the Nebraska loss behind us and whenever someone throws the ball to us we have to put it right back up."
On the value of an outside voice...
"Yeah I think it really did help hearing someone else on the outside looking in: what they see, what they can contribute advice-wise, and just inspiration type of stuff."
