Minnesota Set For UGA Diving Invite

The University of Minnesota diving team will open 2016 at the University of Georgia Diving Invitational this Sunday, Jan. 3 through Tuesday, Jan. 5 in Athens, Georgia. Each of the 12 Golden Gopher divers will have the opportunity to compete on the 1-meter, 3-meter and platform boards---similar to the championship season meets in February and March.
In addition to the host university, the Gophers will compete against divers from Alabama, Auburn, Tennessee, LSU, Missouri, SMU, Drexel, Iowa State, Illinois, Clemson and North Carolina State.
The Gophers have shown depth in the diving well this season, led by Yu Zhou and Matt Barnard. The pair has each been awarded as Big Ten Diver of the Week five times this season. Junior Lexi Tenenbaum also tallied a conference honor after her performance at the Jean K. Freeman Invite.
