Minnesota hosts Michigan State this Saturday at the Sports Pavilion

No. 19 Gophers Close Homestand

MINNEAPOLIS - The University of Minnesota women's gymnastics team, ranked No. 19 in the country, will conclude the team's four-meet homestand on Saturday at the Sports Pavilion as the team takes on the Michigan State Spartans.

* SPECIAL NOTE: For the 2016 season, all posted times on the schedule are when the first rotation will begin. In the past, posted times signified line-ups. Please plan accordingly to be sure not to miss any of the Maroon and Gold action.

THE OPPONENT
Last weekend, the Spartans of Michigan State hosted the Iowa Hawkeyes in the team's home opener and fell 194.900-192.575.

Junior Elena Lagoski won the Floor title with a 9.850 and freshman Drew Hendershot took second on the event with a 9.800. Senior Lisa Burt tied with Angel Metcalf of Iowa on Uneven Bars with scores of 9.825.

As a team, Michigan State tallied a 48.475 on Vault, 48.350 on Bars, 47.200 on Beam and 48.550 on Floor.

During the 2014-15 season, Minnesota traveled to East Lansing, Mich. to go head-to-head against the Spartans and came away with the victory, 196.875-195.750.

The Maroon and Gold claimed all events as a team while senior Lindsay Mable took home first on Beam (9.925), Floor (9.925) and the All-Around (39.575).

LAST TIME OUT
In last Saturday's Big Ten meet, Minnesota defeated Maryland 195.425-193.150.

The Gophers outscored the Terrapins on Vault (48.655), Uneven Bars (48.850), Beam (48.850) and Floor (49.100) and never trailed throughout the entirety of the meet.

Mable swept all four events as well as the All-Around and senior Hanna Nordquist tied with Mable on Beam with a 9.850.

Junior Rachel Haines took third on Vault after earning a 9.750.

On Uneven Bars, junior Bailie Holst took second (9.825), followed by sophomore Abby DeMuse (9.800).

On Beam, sophomore Ciara Gardner finished second with a 9.825.

Gardner also took second on Floor after earning a 9.850, followed by junior Bailey Abernathy, who tallied a 9.800.

GOPHERS IN THE NATIONAL RANKINGS
The national rankings have the Maroon and Gold at No. 18 in the country on Vault with a team average of 48.838 and a high of 49.050. On Floor, the team is No. 20 (48.900 avg., 49.100 high), No. 22 on Beam (48.625 avg., 48.850 high) and with an average score of 48.700 and a high of 48.850, Minnesota is No. 26 on the Uneven Bars.

Individually, Mable cracks the top 25 in the country in the All-Around at No. 22 and is tied for No. 23 on both Vault and Beam.

MABLE'S NINTH CAREER B1G HONOR
It was announced on Monday that for her efforts of sweeping each event title to include the All-Around vs. Maryland last week, the Aurora, Colo. native earned her ninth career Big Ten Gymnast of the Week honor.

LOOKING AHEAD
Next Saturday, the Maroon and Gold will open the travel portion of the schedule as the team takes to Columbus, Ohio to go head-to-head with the Ohio State Buckeyes. The meet is set to begin at 4:00 p.m. ET.
