Women's Hockey - #3 (USCHO.com), #3 (USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine)
Last Week: Minnesota swept St. Cloud State, 7-0, and 4-2 on the road last weekend. With the 7-0 win last week, head coach Brad Frost surpassed Laura Halldorson as the winningest coach in Gopher women's hockey history. In his ninth season leading the Gophers, Frost's coaching record now stands at 280-44-21.
Coming Up:No. 3 Minnesota (22-3-0, 17-3-0 WCHA) is on the road for the second-straight week as it travels to Bemidji State (17-7-2, 12-7-1-0 WCHA), Jan. 29-30. The Gophers and Beavers face off at 7 p.m. CT Friday and 4 p.m. CT Saturday at the Sanford Center in Bemidji, Minn.
Men's Gymnastics - #5 (RoadtoNationals.com Poll)
Last Week: Minnesota men's gymnastics team opened the regular home season with a 432.750-418.500, win over Penn State at the Sports Pavilion last Saturday. Zach Liebler was named the Big Ten Gymnast of the Week, paving the way for the Gopher victory as he finished first on the Floor Exercise with a career-high 15.850, which is tied for third in the nation.
Coming Up: Next Saturday, the Gophers will continue their stint at home with action against the Huskers of Nebraska and the UMN Club Team. Action is set to begin at 7:00 p.m. at the Sports Pavilion.
Women's Gymnastics - #18 (RoadtoNationals.com Poll)
Last Week: Minnesota women's gymnastics won its third-straight win last Saturday night. The Golden Gophers earned a 195.675-195.275 victory over Michigan State last Saturday at the Sports Pavilion. Three claimed individual titles in the win, including Hanna Nordquist, who was named the Big Ten Event Specialist of the Week when she won the Balance Beam (9.950 score).
Coming Up: For the first time this season, the Gophers will travel hit the road as they travel to Columbus, Ohio, Saturday, to take on the Ohio State Buckeyes. The first rotation is set to start at 3:00 p.m. CT.
Men's Swimming & Diving - #18 (College Swimming Coaches Association of America Poll)
Last Week:The Gophers earned wins over Denver (199.50-152.50) and BYU (221.50-130.50) in Denver, Colo. As a whole, the Gopher men broke five pool records in the two-day competition.
Coming Up: Minnesota travels to Evanston, Illinois, Friday and Saturday, for B1G Triple Duals against Northwestern and Purdue. Scheduled start times are 5 p.m. on Friday and noon Saturday.
Wrestling - #17 (Intermat Dual Meet)
Last Week:Minnesota earned a 23-19 dual meet win over Purdue, Sunday, at the Sports Pavilion. After Purdue took the first three matches, Minnesota came back to win the meet. Ben Morgan made his career debut for Minnesota and earned a pin and Brett Pfarr and Michael Kroells had major decisions in the win.
Coming Up: Minnesota wraps up its Big Ten season with four road duals over the next three weekends, beginning this Friday in Iowa City when Minnesota takes on No. 2 Iowa in college wrestling's greatest rivalry. That match will be broadcast on the Big Ten Network beginning at 8 p.m. Central.
Men's Hockey - #20 (USCHO.com)
Last Week:Minnesota earned a road-series sweep over border rival Wisconsin in a pair of 4-0 and 9-2 wins. The Gophers also swept the Big Ten weekly awards. Michael Brodzinski was tabbed the Big Ten First Star of the Week followed by Hudson Fasching as the Big Ten Second Star of the Week and Eric Schierhorn as Big Ten Third Star of the Week.
Coming Up: The Gophers return to action next weekend with the North Star College Cup presented by TRIA. Xcel Energy Center hosts the third annual event, featuring Minnesota (13-10-0), Bemidji State (10-10-5), St. Cloud State (20-5-1) and Minnesota State (13-8-5), Jan. 30-31.
Softball - #14 (USA Today/NFCA Division 1 Preseason Top 25 Poll)
The Minnesota softball team starts the 2016 season ranked No. 14 in the USA Today/NFCA Division 1 Preseason Top 25 Poll. This is the highest ranking the Gophers will start a season with in program history after being ranked No. 15 to start last season. The 2016 Minnesota softball season opens Feb. 12 in Las Vegas, Nev. at Sportco Kickoff Classic.
