Fresh Faces: Becca Taylor

Minnesota women's gymnastics welcomes eight fresh faces to their roster this season, including seven freshmen and one transfer. The Minnesota-native hails from Corcoran and competes on floor and uneven bars. She plans to major in physiology. Get to know Taylor in this Q&A.

Gopher Sports: How did you get into gymnastics?

Becca Taylor: I began taking gymnastics classes at age six. Since both of my older sisters were already in gymnastics at the time, my parents decided to enroll me too!

GS: Why did you choose Minnesota?

BT: I chose Minnesota for several reasons. The academic opportunities at Minnesota are excellent, and I loved the gymnastics program as well as the atmosphere of the team!

GS: What are your goals for this season?

BT: My primary goal for this season is to help my team make it to nationals.

GS: What have you learned from your time at Minnesota so far?

BT: One of the most important lessons that I have learned since arriving at the U of M is the importance of making every single day, workout, and skill count. Each day offers a variety of opportunities to improve both educationally and athletically, and I have learned that it is crucial to make the most of each chance to get better.

GS: What events do you compete in?

BT: I compete on both bars and floor.

GS: Who has been your greatest supporter?

BT: My greatest supporters throughout my gymnastics career have definitely been my family members. My parents are such amazing and supportive role models, and I can always count on my three siblings to have my back and keep me entertained.

GS: What are you looking forward to this season?

BT: I am extremely excited to bond with my teammates and work together to accomplish our collective goals!
