Gophers Compete in Boston

BOSTON - Competing among 33 boats in the prestigious Head of the Charles Regatta, the Minnesota rowing team finished 16th on Sunday afternoon.
The Gopher varsity eight boat comprised of Meredith Kelly, Anna Greene, Sara Nelson, Rylie Wargo, Haley Bagley, Kortney Luedloff, Abby Rieser, Anna Cruse, and Catherine Ahrens crossed the finish line in 17:46.086, less than one-hundredth of a second behind fellow Big Ten member Michigan State.
"We had a solid race in challenging conditions and everyone commented on how well the boat responded to everything that happened," said head coach Wendy Davis. "I am definitely happy with the day."
Cambridge won the women's championship eights race with a time of 16:30.368.
The Gophers will wrap up the fall season next Sunday as they travel to Wisconsin to scrimmage with the Badgers.
