Gophers Conclude USA College Challenge

Five Golden Gophers concluded their time at the inaugural USA College Challenge on Sunday. The U.S. National Team defeated an assembly of Big Ten all-stars in the dual meet, 349-247.
Freshman Lindsey Horejsi finished third in the 100-yard breaststroke in 59.50. Senior Kierra Smith was fifth in 1:00.14. Smith was second in the 200 breast on Saturday, crushing her past in-season best in 2:05.83.
Junior Conner McHugh tied his career in-season best with a 54.53 in the 100 breast, finishing fifth. He was fourth in the 200 breast on Saturday.
Brooke Zeiger finished seventh in the 1,000-yard freestyle in 9:47.30. On Saturday, the junior posted a time of 4:05.41 to finish second in the 400 individual medley. That time is the fastest in the country by a collegian this year.
Senior Jakub Maly finished seventh in the 200 IM in 1:48.72, a career in-season best. He was third in the 400 IM on Saturday.
Minnesota head coach Kelly Kremer served as a women's assistant coach for the Big Ten.
The next aquatics event for the Gophers is the IUPUI Diving Invitational Nov. 17-20. Swimmers will return to the pool for AT&T Winter Nationals Nov. 30-Dec. 3.
