The University of Minnesota women's basketball team moved to 3-0 on the season, beating Georgetown (1-2) 68-60 on Friday night at Williams Arena. Carlie Wagner scored 21 points and Kenisha Bell turned in a double-double with 10 points and 10 assists on Friday night at Williams Arena. All three of the Gophers' wins have been against 2016 WNIT qualifiers, and at least their next two games will be against 2016 NCAA Tournament teams.

Wagner has surpassed the 20-point mark in all three of the Gophers' games this season. Bell's points-assists double-double was the first for a Minnesota player since Jan. 22, 2015 when Shayne Mullaney posted one.

Minnesota overcame an early deficit to take the lead, then held off a late charge by the Hoyas. Wagner scored nine points in the fourth to help the Gophers keep the lead.

Both teams made seven 3-pointers and shot below 40 percent overall, but Minnesota went 15-of-17 at the free throw line. The Gophers' bench outscored the Hoyas' reserves 26-2, led by 14 points from Gadiva Hubbard and six apiece from Joanna Hedstrom and Karley Barnes.

HOW IT HAPPENED
First Quarter: The Gophers came back from an eight-point deficit to trail 14-13 at the end of the quarter. Wagner had five points and Brunson four in the opening frame.

Second Quarter: Hedstrom's 3-pointer two minutes into the quarter gave Minnesota its first lead of the game, 18-17. She then answered a Georgetown triple with another of her own. The Maroon and Gold held onto the lead for the rest of the half, increasing it to a 36-26 advantage at the break.

Third Quarter: After the Hoyas chipped into the lead, Minnesota built it up to 57-40. Bell and Hubbard worked well together, with Bell assisting on all three of Hubbard's baskets in the third.

Fourth Quarter: As the Hoyas cut into the lead, Wagner three times extended it back to 10 points, including a 3-point basket and a three-point play. The Hoyas' Dionna White, who led her team with 18 points, scored to bring Georgetown within five points of the Gophers at the 1:22 mark. Wagner and Bell each went 2-for-2 at the free throw line down the stretch, following a rebound by Jessie Edwards and a steal by Hubbard.
