Tickets: Gophers Host Oklahoma State on Sunday

With a late four-match surge led by their upperweight starters, the Gophers erased an early deficit against No. 20 South Dakota State last Saturday and pulled out the 18-17 win in the season's home opener.

After picking up just one win in the dual's opening six matches -- Gannon Volk's 6-2 decision at 141 pounds -- Minnesota rattled off four straight wins the cap off the dual. No. 18 Nick Wanzek got the momentum going with an upset of No. 15 David Kocer. Bobby Steveson and No. 2 Brett Pfarr overpowered Martin Mueller and No. 5 Nate Rotert, respectively, to pick up decisions as well. Needing at least five team points at heavyweight, Minnesota got six from No. 5 Michael Kroells, who led Alex Macki 10-0 late in the third when Macki was disqualified after his fifth stall warning of the match.
