Fresh Faces: Paige Williams

Minnesota women's gymnastics welcomes eight fresh faces to their roster this season, including seven freshmen and one transfer. Paige Williams joins the Gophers from her hometown of Wylie, Texas, where she competed with Metroplex Gymnastics. Get to know Williams in this Q&A.
Gopher Sports: How did you get into gymnastics?
Paige Williams: I started when I was about three years old. I loved watching gymnastics, and I always did flips on the couches around the house so my mom decided to put me in it.
GS: Why did you choose Minnesota?
PW: I chose Minnesota because of the academic resources and opportunities, as well at the team values and atmosphere. The coaches are amazing, and it felt like my home away from home.
GS: What have you learned from your time at Minnesota so far?
PW: I am learning every day, especially how important it is to make the most out of each day in and out of the gym. It is amazing to be a part of this program and I want to cherish each moment.
GS: What are your goals for this season?
PW: My goals for this season are to contribute on all four events and help my team become B1G Champs as well as make it to Nationals.
GS: What events do you compete in?
PW: I compete all-around!
GS: Who has been your greatest supporter?
PW: My greatest supporters have definetly been all of my family, friends and coaches. I wouldn't be where I am today if it wasn't for them.
GS: What else are you looking forward to?
PW: I'm looking forward to traveling and competing with the team! We all have such a great bond and I can't wait to make memories and show off all of the hard work we have been putting in.

1. Favorite sport (besides gymnastics)? Volleyball.
2. Favorite animal? Puppies!
3. Favorite season? Summer, of course.
