Gophers Split First Two B1G Matches

The Gophers split their first two matches of the Big Ten Match Play Championship, losing to Purdue 3.5-2.5 and beating Indiana 4-2.
In the first match of the day two Gophers, Jon DuToit and RĆĀŗnar Arnorsson, won their head-to-head matches. Minnesota also earned a half point from Tom Vining, who ended his match at even score by winning the final hole of the round.
In the second match against Indiana, four Gophers won their matches including DuToit, Arnorsson, Vining, and Grady Meyer. Arnorsson fell behind early in his match and trailed by as many as three holes before coming back and holding a 1-up lead at the end of the round.
The Gophers will face off against Nebraska Saturday morning for their third match of the competition. They will then be seeded within their division to determine their opponent for the final round.
