Gophers 14th After First Round in Puerto Rico

Puerto Rico Classic - Live Scoring
The Gophers are in 14th after the first round of the Puerto Rico Classic. Senior Jon DuToit leads Minnesota, and is in a tie for 11th as an individual.
DuToit shot a 2-under 70 in Sunday's lone round. He bogeyed his first hole of the morning, but did not go over par the rest of the round. He picked up three birdies on the back nine, one apiece on a par-3, par-4, and par-5 hole.
Charlie Duensing also recorded three birdies on the back nine. He finished the round with a 75 and is in a tie for 53rd. Justin Doeden and Rúnar Arnorsson posted identical 77 rounds for the Gophers. Minnesota's final golfer, Tom Vining, shot an 82 in the tournament's first round.
Alabama leads the team competition after one round with team score of 276. Jonathan Hardee of Alabama holds the lead for individuals, with a 5-under 67 round.
Round 2 will tee off at 8 a.m. EST tomorrow
Puerto Rico Individual - Live Scoring
Juniors Grady Meyer and Jose Mendez both competed for Minnesota in the Puerto Rico Individual competition. Meyer posted a 3-over 74 round, while Mendez shot a 4-over 75 round. Four players are tied for the lead with a round of 69.
