Gophers Win Four Titles at St. Thomas

ST. PAUL, Minn. -- Lindsey Smits won the 600-meter run, and three unattached Gophers took home titles as members of the Minnesota women's track & field team competed at the St. Thomas Showcase hosted by the University of St. Thomas Friday evening.
Nearly all of the Gophers recorded career-best marks in their respective events, including 600m champion Lindsey Smits, who posted a time of 1:38.99.
Unattached Gophers Rachel Schow (60m hurdles, 8.78 seconds) and Emily Betz (mile, 5:08.11) also posted collegiate-best marks to win their respective events. Fellow rookie Lexi Kiefer won the pole vault while competing unattached as well, clearing 3.75m (12-3.50).
Minnesota is also competing at the Iowa State Classic this weekend before returning home to host the Parents Day Invite next Saturday, Feb. 20.
