As Minnesota rowing turns the page to the spring season, the seniors can reflect on the past three and a half years while preparing for their final season of competition. GopherSports.com caught up with senior Brianna Boileau who discussed her career as a Gopher rower and more.

GS: How have you grown as a rower since your freshman year?
BB: I've learned how to push myself past my limits. I played basketball in high school which is has a very different atmosphere. When you got tired you tugged on your jersey and the coach would give you a break. That doesn't happen in rowing. When you get tired you have to tell yourself that you're fine and push through it. It's a difficult thing to wrap your mind around at first, but once you learn that it is possible to keep pushing yourself it makes the sport a lot more fun.

GS: What are your goals for your last spring season?
BB: I would love to see the team medal. I have seen all of us put in so much work and grow as a team over the years and I think this is the year that it finally pays off.

GS: What are your plans post graduation?
BB: As of right now I'm looking for jobs. So if anybody is hiring I'll send my resume their way!

GS: What made you come to Minnesota?
BB: I grew up in basically in the backyard of campus and had never realized how perfect the school was for me until I actually did an official campus visit. I love Minnesota and being a Gopher was the best decision I have ever made.

GS: What is your biggest accomplishment while on the team?
BB: I think that my biggest accomplishment is coming back from all of the setbacks that I have encountered. I didn't let any of them drag me down and have always fought through them and climbed my way back to the top.

GS: What are your favorite things to do outside rowing?
BB: I love to eat. Finding new restaurants in the area to try is one of my favorite things to do.

GS: What is your funniest memory while on the team?
BB: There have been way too many to count. But one of my favorites has to be all of the disasters that came out of Club Nationals after my Freshman year. Jess and I raced a pair for the first time ever and our steering broke right at the beginning of the race. Lets just say that it was not fun race down the course. But it definitely is a funny memory to recount.

GS: How are you preparing for the spring season?
BB: Working on my fitness while focusing on my form. There are always room for improvements in both areas.

GS:What's something most people don't know about you?
BB: I have played the piano for the past 14 years! I took lessons all throughout high school and even won 2 state MMTA (Minnesota Music Teachers Association) performance competitions and multiple MMTA music theory competitions.

GS: What advice would you give novice rowers who are just learning the sport?
BB: Stick with it. There are going to be days when it's tough, but the friendships you make and the lessons you learn will make everything worth it.
