Meyer Ties for 20th, Gophers Eighth in San Diego

Grady Meyer notched his first top-20 finish of the spring as the Golden Gophers finished eighth as a team at the Lamkin Grips San Diego Classic. Meyer tied for 20th at 6 over par, and Minnesota was 36 over for the tournament.
Meyer shot his highest score of the tournament, a 5-over 77, on Tuesday but his 73 and 72 from Monday kept him in the top 20. After a 4-over front nine, he parred eight holes on the back nine.
Jon DuToit tied for 34th after a 78 on Tuesday. He and Justin Doeden each played an even-par back nine. Doeden carded a 76 and tied for 41st along with Rúnar Arnorsson, who posted his best score of the week, a 75, in round 3.
Tom Vining finished 61st for the Gophers, and Riley Johnson played as an individual and tied for 71st.
Texas (-12) won by nine strokes over second-place New Mexico. The Longhorns' Beau Hossler (-8) captured medalist honors.
Up Next: The Gophers will play in the Barona Collegiate Cup March 21-22 at Barona Creek GC.
