DuToit tied for fifth at Hawkeye Invitational

A strong first day at the Hawkeye Invitational has Jon DuToit in a tie for fifth heading into Sunday's final round. DuToit shot a 71 in the first round, and followed it up with another 71 in the second for a total of 142.
DuToit leads the Gophers who are currently in 12th, shooting 597 as a team. Three Gophers had lower scores in the second round than in the first, while the other two tied their scores. As a team, the Gophers posted the third best score in the second round.
Riley Johnson joined DuToit by shooting a 71 in the second round. He birdied six holes in the second round on Saturday, including his second to last hole which put him back under par. Johnson's two round total was 151, which put him in a tie for 48th
Also tied for 48th is Justin Doeden. Doeden had a 77 in the first round, followed by a 74 in the second. He led all Minnesota golfers with eight birdies on Saturday.
Rúnar Arnorsson and Tom Vining also competed for the Gophers, finishing in a tie for 65th and 74th respectively. Vining had the only eagle on the day for the Gophers, taking only three shots on the par-5 11th hole.
Kansas leads the team competition with a total score of 573. Francco Lagraulet of UMKC leads all individuals with a two round score of 138.
The final round will tee off at 9 a.m. Sunday morning.
