Recap | Box Score

Minnesota 87, Milwaukee 80

Head Coach Marlene Stollings

Opening statement:
"Credit to Milwaukee, they battled hard and played well. We talked about it at halftime--nobody that's playing at this time of year is going to be an easy opponent, regardless of what level, conference they may come from. The ladies did well. It is emotional coming off not getting the NCAA Tournament and coming out and playing a few days later, but they continued to battle and were battle-tested from the Big Ten season, and I thought that showed down the stretch and I am really proud of them. Really proud of Rachel obviously. She continues to annihilate records. [We are] witnessing history every time she steps on the floor. Like to note she passed Cheryl Miller, Maya Moore, Elena Della Donne in NCAA scoring, and those are some pretty powerful names, so credit to her for that, unbelievable showing from Rachel again.

Senior Guard Rachel Banham

"You could tell we hadn't played a game in a while and it took us a bit to get flowing, but second half, we started out strong and it ended up being huge for us."

"All these records don't really hit me now, but down the road I will really appreciate it. It's crazy when you hear those names, because they are players I looked up to so right now it's really weird. It hasn't really hit me but I know I'll appreciate it a lot more."

Sophomore Guard Allina Starr

"Our team defense is something we strive to focus on. We let one slip with the Northwestern loss. Our focus for this game was really getting defensive stops. Our game goal was 45 stops. As coach said we got that 46, so we don't lose when we focus on rebounding and getting those stops, we can come out on top."
