Silver for Zhou, Gophers Place 16th at NCAAs

Minnesota wrapped the 2016 NCAA Women's Swimming and Diving tonight at the McAuley Aquatic Center in Atlanta, Ga. The Gophers placed 16th at the national meet with a total of 70 points. Five Golden Gophers earned NCAA All-America honors, led by three honors from Brooke Zeiger, and two from Yu Zhou.
Zhou earned silver in the platform diving event after totaling 331.90 points. Zhou finished fifth in the event last year. Zhou has now won gold, silver and bronze at the NCAA Championships-each in a different diving event.
Sophomore Zeiger was named All-American once again after placing eighth in the 1650 free. Her time of 16:00.64 was a lifetime best. Zeiger went three-for-three with All-America awards this week for the Gophers.
Divers Jessica Ramberg and Lexi Tenenbaum picked up their first All-America Honorable Mention accolades after representing Minnesota in the platform diving consolation final. Senior Ramberg finished 12th with a score of 242.80 to close out her collegiate career, and Tenenbaum followed for 13th (239.80).
