Chen, Zhou Receive Top B1G Honors

For the second-straight year, Golden Gophers junior Yu Zhou has been named the Big Ten Diver of the Year and Minnesota's Wenbo Chen has been selected as the Big Ten Diving Coach of the Year. The awards are voted on by the conference head coaches, and were announced today by the conference office.
Zhou earned All-America status on the 3-meter springboard and 10-meter platform at the 2016 NCAA Women's Swimming and Diving Championships. The junior is now a five-time All-American and has won gold, silver and bronze during her two seasons at Minnesota.
At the 2016 B1G Championships, Zhou swept the women's diving events. Her 1-meter, 3-meter and platform wins added to her five career gold medals, and one silver, at the conference meet. Zhou has also been selected as the 2016 and 2015 B1G Diver of the Championships.
Chen is now a five-time B1G Diving Coach of the Year. He has been honored during his time at Minnesota four times, and won the award in 2004 for Purdue. Chen coached three divers at the 2016 NCAA Championships, where each earned All-America honors.
