Gopher Diving Set for Zones

The University of Minnesota men's and women's diving team will compete among a field of nearly 100 divers at the NCAA Zone D Diving Championships this Monday through Wednesday at Texas A&M Student Recreation Natatorium. The Gophers will look to earn a trip to their respective 2016 NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships later this month.

The Gophers are coming off strong performances at the conference championships.

Yu Zhou was named Big Ten Diver of the Championships for the second-straight year last month after sweeping the 1-meter, 3-meter and platform diving events at the 2016 Big Ten Women's Swimming and Diving Championships. Lexi Tenenbaum collected a bronze medal in three-meter diving and placed fourth on platform. Senior Jessica Ramberg placed in the top-eight of the 1-meter, 3-meter and platform diving competitions, and Mariam Khamis scored for the Gophers in each event.

Matt Barnard earned Big Ten Champion status after a gold finish in 3-meter diving for Minnesota. Barnard also placed sixth on 1-meter and fourth on platform. Manny Pollard earned silver in platform, and bronze in 1-meter diving at the conference championships. Fellow senior Dylan Zoe also earned a bronze medal in platform diving. Freshman Alan LeBlang scored for Minnesota in each event, placing as high as eighth in the platform diving competition.

Gophers Barnard, Beth Etterman, Khamis, LeBlang, Daniel Monaghan, Pollard, Ramberg, Tenenbaum, Zoe and Zhou will be competing.
