Four Gophers Qualify for NCAAs on Zones Day One

The Golden Gophers qualified four divers to their respective NCAA Championships on day one of the 2016 NCAA Zone D Diving Championships, including: Matt Barnard, Jessica Ramberg Dylan Zoe and Yu Zhou.
Zhou topped the women's 1-meter competition after totaling a combined 667.30 points in the prelims and finals. Senior Ramberg placed fourth with a 611.65. Zhou and Ramberg's placing have advanced them to the 2016 NCAA Women's Swimming and Diving Championships next week in Atlanta, Ga.
Lexi Tenenbaum placed just outside the qualifying spots in the women's 1-meter event with a seventh-place mark (590.70). Sophomore Beth Etterman placed 17th (533.65). Freshman Mariam Khamis finished 28th in the women's 1-meter event with a preliminary score of 253.40.
Barnard led Minnesota in the men's 3-meter contest with a second-place finish of 804.70 points. Barnard along with Zoe, who placed fourth (787.10), have qualified for the 2016 NCAA Men's Swimming and Diving Championships in Atlanta, Ga., at the end of the month.
Manny Pollard finished 13th on the 3-meter board with a 701.25, while freshman Alan LeBlang took 15th (656.40). Daniel Monaghan placed 26th overall on the 3-meter board with a prelims score of 273.10.
The 2016 Zone D Diving Championships will continue tomorrow at 11 a.m. CT with women's 3-meter and men's 1-meter. Both men's and women's platform diving will be contested on Wednesday, March 9 at Texas A&M's Student Recreation Natatorium.
