After keying a doubleheader sweep of No. 25 Michigan, senior Dalton Sawyer was tabbed as the Big Ten Pitcher of the Week, it was announced by the league office on Monday.

Sawyer got the nod on the mound for the back end of the doubleheader on Friday afternoon and put on a masterful performance against one of the league's most dangerous offenses.

The southpaw went 6.0 innings and struck out a career-high 10 while allowing just two hits to a team that entered the contest hitting .364 in conference games.

Where Sawyer shined the brightest was against the Wolverines' top hitters and in pressure-packed situations. He held the top three hitters in the lineup to a combined 1-for-13 at the dish that included nine strikeouts. Sawyer also held Michigan without a hit in five chance with runners in scoring position in the outing.

Sawyer collects his first career laurel from the Big Ten Conference and is the first pitcher to receive the award for his outstanding performance since Alec Crawford in 2014.
