Gophers Wrap Up Day 1 at Big Tens

The Gophers are in 12th place after the first round of the 2016 Big Ten Tournament, shooting a 303 as a team in the first round.
The Gophers were led by the tandem of Jon DuToit and Rúnar Arnorsson. The two posted identical round scores of 74 on Friday, and were tied for 30th. Both golfers picked up birdies on their first and last hole of the round. Four of the five Minnesota golfers birdied the final hole of the round.
Competing in his first Big Ten tournament, Justin Doeden carded a 76 in Friday's round. Doeden is tied for 42nd heading into Saturday's round.
Peter Jones and Riley Johnson also competed for Minnesota, with each golfer posting a 79 in the opening round. Jones birdied two out of his last five holes to close the round. The two were tied for 59th after the first round.
Illinois leads the team competition with a total score of 279. Charlie Danielson of Illinois and Joe Brooks of Maryland are tied for the individual lead with a first round score of 68.
