Mable Earns Back-to-Back Honda Sports Nomination

MINNEAPOLIS - University of Minnesota women's gymnastics senior, Lindsay Mable has been named a back-to-back nominee for the prestigious Honda Sports Award for gymnastics presented by The Collegiate Women Sports Award.
The honor is given to the top collegiate women athletes and the nominees are considered "the best of the best in collegiate athletics."
Each NCAA member institution casts one vote to determine the winner, which will be announced next week.
Mable is joined by fellow 2016 nominees: Elizabeth Price of Stanford, Bridget Sloan of Florida and Nina McGee of Denver. Bios of the four nominees can be found here.
This season, Mable closed her collegiate athletics career with a bang. The Aurora, Colo. native earned the AAI Award, which is considered the Heisman Trophy in gymnastics. Mable was also named back-to-back Big Ten Gymnast of the Year. She boasts 18 career All-America accolades including seven this season and won the All-Around and Beam individual titles at the Big Ten Championships. Mable is a three-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree and was named the female recipient of the Big Ten Wayne Duke Postgraduate Award.
The CWSA, celebrating its 40th year, has honored the nation's top NCAA women athletes recognizing superior athletic skills, leadership, academic excellence and eagerness to participate in community service. Since commencing its sponsorship in 1986, Honda has provided more than $3.0 million in institutional grants to the universities of the award winners and nominees to support women's athletics programs at the institutions.
