MINNEAPOLIS--- The Gophers will compete in their first and only home meet of the season as they host Wisconsin in the Border Battle Regatta this Sunday at Lake Phalen. Last weekend at the Big Ten/Big 12 Invitational, Minnesota fared well against tough competition, including Wisconsin, finishing with four first place finishes and seven second place finishes.

With the Border Battle Regatta being the only home meet of the season, there is a clear sense of excitement throughout the team.

"We are excited to host this event with Wisconsin," head coach Wendy Davis said. "It brings together the oldest Big Ten rowing program, Wisconsin, with the newest program, Minnesota. It should be a great morning of racing!"

Assistant coach Cassie Drozynski saw progress last weekend and hopes to continue to improve this weekend. "We made up some great ground on Wisconsin," said Drozynski. "I am looking forward to seeing how much an additional week of training pays off!"

After finishing last weekend with two victories against Iowa and Oklahoma, the novices are looking for their first win against Wisconsin this weekend. "We are spending the week working on things we learned last Saturday," said Claudia Herpertz, the novice coach. "I am looking forward to another great weekend of racing and comparing ourselves to one of the top novice programs in the Big Ten."
