Novice Rowers Compete in San Diego

SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The University of Minnesota First Novice Eight had a successful weekend at the San Diego Crew Classic.
The boat raced twice finished fourth out of seven on Saturday and Sunday. In the preliminary round on Saturday, the novices finished with a time of 7:33.472. On Sunday, the Gophers improved on their time with a 7:32.496.
"I am happy with the performance considering it was our first race of the season," said novice coach Claudia Herpertz. "Going down the race course twice against some strong west coast schools will help us leading into these upcoming races within the Big Ten."
All of Minnesota's rowers head to Iowa this weekend for a double dual meet with the Hawkeyes and Indiana.
