Gophers Compete at Big Ten Double Dual

B1G Double Dual Results 
SOLON, Iowa - The University of Minnesota Varsity and Novice rowing teams capped their double dual meet against Iowa and Indiana with four wins and nine losses.
During the morning against Indiana, the Gophers claimed three wins and suffered four losses. The Novices swept the Hoosiers with the First Novice Eight finishing seven seconds ahead of Indiana and the Second Novice Eight finishing 13 seconds in front. The Second Varsity Eight claimed the lone victory for the Varsity boats, finishing two seconds ahead of IU. Minnesota's First Varsity Eight finished behind the Hoosiers by eight seconds while the First and Second Varsity Four each paced 10+ seconds behind Indiana.
The Hoosiers edged Minnesota, 39-33.
In the afternoon session, the Gophers Second Varsity Eight captured their second victory of the day, finishing three seconds faster than Iowa. The First Varsity Eight and the First Novice Eight each fell to the Hawkeyes by 5 seconds while the First and Second Varsity Four, the Second Novice Eight and the Third Varsity Eight finished 10+ seconds behind Iowa.
The Hawkeyes beat the Gophers, 42-30.
"Our Second Varsity Eight continues to lead the way," coach Wendy Davis said. "We know what we need to work on in our other boats and look forward to spending the next practices fixing what needs attention."
The Maroon and Gold are back in action at the Big Ten/Big XII Invite in Wisconsin on Saturday, April 23.
