Smith qualified for Canada's Olympic Team on Thursday after taking the gold in the 100-meter breast with a 1:06.93, which broke the Minnesota long course school record.

Gophers and Canada-natives Breanne Siwicki and Lauren Lalumiere closed out their Canadian Trials, as well. Siwicki competed in two events on Friday, and placed 21st in the 200-meter fly (2:19.74) and 33rd in the 800-meter free (9:16.00). Lalumiere finished 35th in the 200-meter fly (2:22.19).
