Gophers Head to Big Ten Championships

The Gophers head to Indianapolis this weekend to compete at the Big Ten Championships and look to lock up a spot in the NCAA Championships. The conference's top finisher on Sunday will earn an automatic bid to the NCAA Championships.
The top six boats from each race on Saturday will compete in the final race on Sunday while the bottom two will compete in the petite final.
Head coach Wendy Davis is proud of how this team has performed all season but knows there is still work to be done. "We are on the verge of being fast enough to qualify for the NCAA Championships. But being a member of the best rowing league in the country, fast is not good enough," Davis explained. "We have to be 'very fast' and I wouldn't have it any other way."
Assistant coaches Cassie Drozynski and Claudia Herpertz both know this meet is where all of the team's hard work pays off and are excited to see the final result. "This is a resilient, solid group of athletes who have put in the work and have come miles in the past few months," Drozynski said. "I can't wait to see what they are capable of when they properly execute their race plan this weekend."
"This Championship is all we have been working towards since the beginning of September," Herpertz said. "Now it is time to find out what our final speed looks like."
