MINNEAPOLIS - The University of Minnesota women's gymnastics program announced the addition of Julia Huebert to the incoming class of Gophers for the 2016-17 season.
Huebert joins Ivy Lu, Casey Betts, Ryan Stach, Paige Williams, Rebecca Taylor and Kristen Quaglia to comprise the freshman Maroon and Gold class in the fall of 2016.
"We are thrilled to welcome Julia to our team for the 2017 season," said head coach Jenny Hansen. "Everything moved very quickly with Julia, but we knew pretty instantly that she would be a great fit with our team and the culture we are creating at Minnesota. We expect her to make an immediate impact on Beam for us and she has great potential to contribute on the other events. She will be a terrific addition to one of our biggest classes in school history!"
Huebert joins the Gophers from Overland Park, Kan., where she trains under Kim Fuchs and Janet Anson at Eagles Gymnastics Club and attends Blue Valley West High School. At the 2016 Missouri state meet, Huebert finished second on every event to also include the All-Around. In 2015, she took home the state Beam and Floor titles and finished fourth in the All-Around. At the 2016 Region 4 meet, Huebert collected sixth place on Beam and ninth on Vault, Floor and in the All-Around. In 2015, she finished seventh on Floor and ninth on Beam. In both 2015 and 2016, she qualified for the vent finals at the Northern Lights meet.
Huebert's career best scores include 9.375 (Vault), 9.30 (Bars), 9.550 (Beam), 9.450 (Floor) and 36.850 (All-Around).
While at the University of Minnesota, Huebert, daughter of Ray Huebert and Carrie Totta, plans to major in Environmental Sciences and minor in photography.
