NCAA Tournament Bracket
The University of Minnesota secured its 31st NCAA Tournament appearance after being selected as the No. 2 seed in the College Station Regional. The Gophers are joined by No. 1 seed and host Texas A&M, No. 3 seed Wake Forest and No. 4 seed Binghamton in the four-team regional set to take place June 3-6.
Minnesota opens regional play with a duel against Wake Forest at 3 p.m. on Friday. The contest between the Gophers and Demon Deacons will be televised on ESPN3. Texas A&M and Binghamton will follow at 8 p.m. Friday night in the double-elimination regional.
Minnesota earned its first bid in the annual postseason tournament since 2010. The Maroon and Gold have made 18 NCAA Tournament appearances under current head coach John Anderson, including seven since 2000.
Each of the 16 regionals features four teams, playing a double-elimination format, to make up the 64-team field. The regionals are scheduled to be conducted from Friday, June 3, to Monday, June 6 (if necessary).
The Gophers enter the tournament with an overall record of 34-20 that included a Big Ten regular season title. Minnesota's 31 tournament selections lead the Big Ten with Michigan (22) and Ohio State (20) the next closest.
The Maroon and Gold have seen Texas A&M 69 times in series history with the Aggies holding a 44-24-1 advantage. Minnesota and Wake Forest have met three times since 2000 and the Demon Deacons have taken all three. The Gophers have yet to face Binghamton in program history.
Minnesota was one of three teams from the Big Ten Conference to make the field. Nebraska and Ohio State were the other two representatives.
