Pitlick Named USHL Player/Forward of the Year

MINNEAPOLIS (GopherSports.com) – Gopher Hockey signed prospect Rem Pitlick has been tabbed the United States Hockey League (USHL) Player of the Year and Forward of the year as determined by a vote of USHL general managers.
A forward for the Muskegon Lumberjacks, Pitlick led the USHL in scoring with 89 points (46 goals, 43 assists) over 56 regular-season games, breaking the record for most points in a season in Lumberjacks history. Both his goal and assist totals were best in the USHL, and his 46 goals rank third all-time in the USHL Tier 1 era. The forward also tied for the league lead with eight game-winning goals, and Pitlick's nine power-play goals were good for ninth in the USHL. He recorded 25 multi-point games in those 56 contests, and scored at least three points on 13 separate occasions. He is only the fourth player in USHL history to record at least 40 goals in a season. Additionally, Pitlick led all USHL forwards with five USHL Forward of the Week honors.
A native of Plymouth, Minn., Pitlick currently has 105 points in 103 career USHL games over two seasons. He previously spent the 2014-15 season with the Waterloo Black Hawks, tallying 16 points in 47 games. He was selected 12th overall by Waterloo in the 2013 USHL Phase I Draft after playing for the prestigious Shattuck St. Mary’s program.
Pitlick the 93rd-ranked North American skater according to NHL Central Scouting's most recent ranking, and he is eligible for the 2016 NHL Draft in Buffalo, NY. He is the son of Gopher Hockey and NHL alum Lance Pitlick, who served as a team captain in 1989-90 and played in 144 career games as a Minnesota defenseman.
