Former Gopher Ben Greve won the Minnesota State Open Championship Sunday after completing an 8-under second round. The 2005 University of Minnesota alum won the weather-shortened tournament with scores of 70 and 64. At 10 under, he won by 2 strokes over Sam Matthew.

Greve, an All-Big Ten Second Team selection in 2004, is the third Gopher to win the State Open in the past seven years. Clayton Rask claimed the 2010 title, and recent graduate Jon DuToit won in 2013.

Minnesota alumni populated much of the leaderboard this past weekend. Erik Van Rooyen, who carded a first-round 66, finished in third place at 6 under. He was followed closely by Donald Constable at 5 under. Clayton Rask tied for seventh at 4 under.

DuToit (tied for 11th, -3), assistant coach Justin Smith (tied for 15th, -2) and returning junior Riley Johnson (tied for 19th, -1) also finished in the top 20. To view other Gophers' scores, see the leaderboard here.

Additional note: Redshirt freshman Campbell Fisher tied for 35th of 108 in last week's Oglethorpe Invitational in Savannah, Ga. He shot scores of 75, 72 and 70.
