For a fourth straight year, Pine to Palm medalist honors went to a Golden Gopher. Junior Charlie Duensing and sophomore Peter Jones tied for the best stroke play score, and teammate William Leaf went on to finish as the runner-up in match play.

Duensing carded scores of 68 and 66 and Jones played two rounds of 67 to take the top seeds into match play, along with Wisconsin's Benjamin Skogen. Jones won his first three matches to get to the quarterfinals. Duensing won his first two before running into Leaf in the third round.

Leaf, who will be one of Minnesota's five seniors, tied for 43rd in stroke play before going all the way through the match play bracket. He won his matches 1-up (against freshman teammate Thomas Longbella), 5&4, 4&2 (against Duensing), 2&1 (against junior teammate Riley Johnson) and 1-up in extra holes before losing a close match 2&1 in the championship.

Leaf is the second consecutive Gophers runner-up, as Duensing made it that far last year. Before Duensing and Jones won stroke play, Grady Meyer (2014 and 15) and Jon Trasamar (2013) did so the three previous years.
