University of Minnesota rowing coach Wendy Davis announced Tuesday the hiring of Chrissy Holm to her staff.

"We are very happy to welcome Chrissy Holm as an assistant coach with the varsity program," said Davis. "She was an extremely successful walk-on rower at Michigan, achieving huge success as a collegiate rower on the international level, and we look forward to her adding her experiences to the coaching knowledge base already in place."

Her international success came, among other places, at the 2012 Under-23 World Rowing Championships in Trakai, Lithuania. There, her 8+ boat captured gold for Team USA. She also participated in the U23 US Rowing Selection Camp in 2011.

Holm spent four seasons as a member of the Wolverines rowing program, including as a member of the NCAA Championship winning second varsity eight boat in 2012. Her squad also captured the Big Ten title that year. She earned several accolades, including Big Ten and team Freshman of the Year (2011), a finalist for the Row2k Collegiate Rower of the Year (2012), and All-Big Ten and CRCA All-Central Region second team honors (2014).

Academically, Holm was a four-year Academic All-Big Ten selection and recipient of the Michigan Athletic Achievement Award.

After earning her degree at Michigan, Holm spent time at the Brunel University London, receiving her master's degree in sport and exercise psychology in September 2015.

She is a native of the Twin Cities and a graduate of Hill-Murray High School in Maplewood, where she was a two-sport athlete in basketball and track and field, also earning varsity letters in lacrosse and cross country.
