Gophers Release 2017 Competition Schedule

FULL SCHEDULE
The University of Minnesota women's gymnastics program has has announced their 2017 competition schedule. The Gophers are slated to host five home meets, along with the annual intrasquad matchup to kick off the year.
"We are excited for the 2017 season and our chance to build off our success from last year," head coach Jenny Hansen said. "We start the year against Denver, a tremendous team, and continue with another challenging Big Ten schedule."
Minnesota will open the regular season against Denver at the Sports Pavilion on Jan. 7, before making stops at Maryland (Jan. 14) and Michigan State (Jan. 21).
Big Ten action will continue as the Gophers return to the Pav for a dual meet against Ohio State (Jan. 28). Minnesota will face Illinois on the road (Feb. 4), and Nebraska at home (Feb. 11).
Minnesota will then compete against the Denver squad again, this time on the road, on Feb. 18.
The annual Best of Minnesota meet will feature Winona, Gustavus and Hamline along with the Golden Gophers (Feb. 26).
The Gophers will close the regular season at home against BYU (March 4) before gearing up for the postseason.
The Big Ten Qualifier will be hosted by Iowa on March 11, with the 2017 Big Ten Championships at Rutgers (March 18).
The Gophers will then compete at NCAA Regionals (April 1) in hopes of qualifying for the NCAA Championships (April 14-15) for the second-straight year.
Minnesota welcomes seven freshman to the 2017 season, and returns 10 Golden Gophers. Jenny Hansen is entering her third season as head coach, coming off her first Big Ten Coach of the Year honor. In 2016, the Gophers went undefeated in the Big Ten to win the regular season conference crown.
"We have a very young, but talented team," Hansen said. "I can't wait for the season to start!"
