Gophers Top North Dakota, 3-0

The University of Minnesota women's soccer team shut out North Dakota in a 3-0 win on Friday night at the Elizabeth Lyle Robbie Stadium. The Gophers move to 3-0 on the 2016 season.
Minnesota's offensive fired 42 shots, with 19 on goal, during the 90-minute game from 15 different players. North Dakota posted four shots, one on goal. Gophers Simone Kolander and Emily Heslin led the team with six shots each.
Sophomore April Bockin earned her second goal of the season off a penalty kick in the 19th minute of the game to get Minnesota on the scoreboard. Bockin also scored off a PK in Minnesota's win at Kansas.
In the 34th minute, freshman defender Nikki Albrecht recorded her first collegiate goal to give the Gophers a 2-0 lead.
Six minutes later, junior Sydney Squires found the back of the net off an assist from rookie Maya Rajacich.
Minnesota entered halftime up 3-0 with 23 shots.
The Gophers started the second half of the game with the same intensity, but were unable to find the back of the net.
With senior goalkeepers Tarah Hobbs and Mara Dougherty splitting the game, Dougherty picked up a save off of North Dakota's lone shot on goal.
