After two weekends on the road, the University of Minnesota women's gymnastics team will host No. 20 Ohio State on the Sports Pavilion this Saturday, Jan. 28. The first rotation is scheduled to begin at 4:00 p.m.

Last Time Out
Minnesota edged out Michigan State 193.875 to 193.000 last Friday to pick up another conference win. After missing the start of the season due to injury, junior Abby DeMuse returned and was named event champion on beam (9.825), and shared the vault title with teammate Bailey Abernathy (9.775). Senior Bailie Holst collected first-place finishes on uneven bars (9.850), floor (9.825) and in the all-around competition (39.175).

Scouting the Buckeyes
Ohio State enters the weekend ranked No. 20 in the country. The Buckeyes are coming off a loss to Iowa, but maintain an average team score of 195.233. Earlier this season, the Buckeyes notched a big win over No. 10 Michigan. Ohio State maintains a higher average on bars, beam and has a slight edge on vault over Minnesota. Last season, the Gophers topped the Buckeyes 196.075-194.900.

In the Rankings
As a team, Minnesota fell just outside the top 25 for the first time this season, and is currently No. 27 with an average score of 194.500. By event, the Gophers are ranked No. 23 on vault (48.842), No. 55 on uneven bars (47.958), No. 23 on beam (48.617) and No. 11 on floor (49.083).

Fresh Faces
Eight newcomers nearly outnumber the team's nine returners. With such a young team, Minnesota's lineups have seen a big shift. Gophers Ivy Lu, Julia Huebert, Kristen Quaglia and Paige Williams have each made their collegiate debut in the opening weeks of the season.

Looking Ahead
Minnesota will head to Illinois to kick off February. The meet is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 4 at 4:00 p.m. The Gophers will then return to the Sports Pavilion to host Nebraska on Saturday, Feb. 11 at 3:00 p.m.
