MINNEAPOLS - Minnesota swimming and diving will head to West Lafayette, Indiana to take on the Purdue Boilermakers and Northwestern Wildcats in a triple dual.

The meet, which is taking place from Jan. 27-28, will consist of both swimming and diving events. The swimming events consist of the 200-medley relay, 1000 freestyle, 200 free, 100 backstroke, 100 breaststroke, 200 butterfly, 50 free, 200 individual medley and 800 free relay. At the meet, there will also be 1-meter and 3-meter diving.

"This is a Big Ten dual with two quality Big Ten teams," Coach Kelly Kremer said. "This will be a nice last opportunity to compete and find tune before going into the conference championships."

LAST SEASON REWIND
Last season at the meet, Minnesota swept both Northwestern and Purdue. Diver Yu Zhou swept the diving events with an impressive total of 296.45 points on the 1-meter board.

Six Gophers won two individual events, including Conner McHugh, Danielle Nack, Daryl Turner, Lauren Votava, Brooke Zeiger and Zhou. On top of that, Minnesota also won seven out of the eight relays.

Multiple Gophers posted in-season bests at the meet including Brooke Zeiger in the 400 IM (4:17.26), Breanne Siwicki in the 400 IM (4:21.04), Nick Plachinski in the 500 free (4:34.62), and Daryl Turner in the 100 fly (47.69). Turner's 47.69 earned him an NCAA "B" qualifying time.

LAST TIME OUT
The Gophers previously competed in a triple dual against Denver and Wyoming at El Pomar Natatorium on Jan. 13-14.

"I thought we had a nice meet at Denver, but that was a tough circumstance, flying overnight on a red eye flight, landing and trying to compete," Kremer said. "I thought we handled that moment really well."

At the meet, the men's and women's relay teams swept the events. Both of the men's relays set pool records: 1:20.42 in the 200 free relay and 2:57.69 in the 400 free relay.

Kierra Smith swept the breaststroke events, posting an impressive 2:13.22 in the 200 breast, which would qualify as an NCAA "B" standard time.

Turner set a pool record by winning the 100 fly with a time of 47.51. Following Turner's victory, Bowe Becker posted a winning time of 44.46 in the 100 free.

Lexi Tenenbaum earned a win at the meet for the divers, posting a score of 292.25 in the 1-meter diving competition.

NEXT TIME OUT
Following the meet at Purdue, the team heads back home to host the Minnesota Challenge on Feb. 3-4. The meet is the last before the Big Ten Championships.
