Minnesota Falls To Marshall

Huntington, W. Va. - The University of Minnesota picked up their first loss Saturday as they fell to the Marshall Thundering Herd 7-0.
Doubles
Caroline Ryba teamed up with Cammy Frei in doubles where they fell to Derva Turhan and Anna Pomvatinskava 6-4. The doubles point was clinched when Annemarie Emme and Camila Vargas Gomez fell 7-6(3) to Stephanie Smith and Daniela Dankanych. Mehvish Safdar and Caitlyn Merzbacher battled but fell 7-5 to Maddie Silver and Rachael Morales in the No. 2 doubles spot.
Singles
Singles began with Smith defeating Barbara Mancera 6-1, 6-2 in the No.2 spot then it became 2-0 Marshall when Caroline Ryba fell 6-4, 6-2 to No. 90 Derya Turhan.
No. 94 Maddie Silver beat Tina Kreinis 6-1, 7-5 in the No. 3 spot while Emme was defeated by Pomvatinskava 6-3, 5-7, 6-4. Safdar battled but also fell 6-2, 4-6, 6-2 to Morales and Vargas Gomez finished the day with a 6-4, 6-3 to Dankanych.
